Rochester and 11th-ranked William Smith battled to a 0-0 tie through two overtimes on Wednesday afternoon.
It marked the second consecutive year that the Herons and Rochester battled to a 0-0 tie in the regular season. They met a second time last year with William Smith winning the ECAC Northeast Regional Championship over the Yellowjackets.
William Smith goalkeeper Nikki Dudley earned her third shutout this year. She made two saves. Dudley denied the Yellowjackets a chance to win in regulation when she fisted a blast from Emily Urbanczyk over the crossbar with two minutes to play. Rochester goalkeeper Adrianne Hulchanski earned her second solo shutout this season. She shared a shutout with Molly Leitch last Saturday in a 3-0 win over St. John Fisher. Hulchanski had two saves, both in the first half off the foot of William Smith's Debbie Minarick. The first was heading wide of the post when it took a haphazard bounce off the artificial surface and she scrambled to pull it in. The second was a straight-on shot from left wing that she collected easily.
Rochester pushed forward in the first overtime and nearly broke the deadlock 20 seconds into the extra period. Anne McMahon cracked a blast off the post.
The Yellowjackets outshot the Herons, 13-4.
