The field hockey team opened its Liberty League season with a victory, defeating Hamilton College, 5-0, at Fauver Stadium on Friday afternoon.
Erin Charnow had a goal and assist for the Yellowjackets. Revay Wilson, Emily Zametkin, Krista Butler, and Kari Plewniak scored the other goals.
Rochester is 4-2 overall, 1-0 in the Liberty League. Hamilton is 0-5, 0-1 in the Liberty League.
Wilson and Charnow scored in the first 9:30 to give the Yellowjackets an early lead. Zametkin made it 3-0 20:34 into the half.
Mary DiMatteo set up Krista Butler for a 4-0 lead just 3:52 into the second period. Plewniak completed the scoring with just over 11 minutes to play. Charnow played a penalty corner to Heidi Davies. She pushed it ahead to Plewniak who notched her second goal this week. She had the gamewinner at Elmira on Tuesday afternoon.
Rachel Cahan played the first 54:15 in goal and Robin Levy the final 15:45 to share the shutout.
