Visiting Cortland scored goals 1:43 apart early in the second half to post a 2-0 field hockey victory over the Yellowjackets at Fauver Stadium.
Rochester dueled evenly with the Red Dragons throughout a rain-soaked first half. Cortland stepped up the pressure early in the second period. Rochester goaltender Rachael Cahan stopped a shot on left wing. The ball rolled to Kate Campbell who pushed it under Cahan and through the open goalmouth where it was tapped in by Kristin Courtney at the right post just 7:54 into the half.
Less than two minutes later, the Dragons were awarded a penalty stroke. Kara Brown scored from the spot, lining the ball into the lower right hand corner, just under Cahan's dive.
Cahan made seven saves for Rochester and Heidi Davies had two defensive saves for the Yellowjackets.
Rochester is 1-1. Cortland, which went to the Final Four last season, is 2-0.
