The women's basketball team moved into the semifinals of the JPMorgan Chase Scholarship Basketball Tournament with a 64-38 victory over RIT at St. John Fisher College on Tuesday night.
Rochester had 17 steals (four each by Megan Krebbeks and Emily Bango) and a +22 advantage on the backboards (47-25). It was the fifth straight season the Yellowjackets have advanced out of the first round with a win.
The victory sets up a meeting with second-seeded Roberts Wesleyan College, an 82-72 victor over SUNY Brockport. Roberts and Rochester have met in the tournament in each of the last three years. The Raiders defeated Rochester in the semfinals three years ago. Rochester defeated Roberts each of the last two seasons - both times in the championship game.
Jessie Graham led a balanced attack with 13 points, including a pair of three-point goals. Emily Lyons made her first varsity start and responded with 10 points and six rebounds - four off the offensive glass.
Megan Fish had eight points and a game-high nine rebounds. Megan Krebbeks, Catherine Adams, and Jamie Mooney all had six points apiece.
Emily Bango had five points, four boards, five assists, four steals and one block. Bango has 55 steals and 48 assists in 11 games.
Rochester improved to 7-4. RIT is 3-7. The Yellowjackets defeated the Tigers, 66-55, one week ago at the Palestra.
