ITAHCA, NY - Ithaca College scored a goal midway through the first half and held on for a 1-0 field hockey win on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bombers scored at 21:12 - an unassisted goal by Kelly Palmer - to earn their fourth win of the year (4-9). Ithaca goaltender Andrea Baraiola made six saves to get the shutout.
All six of her saves came in the second half when the Yellowjackets mounted a furious offensive challenge. Rochester took nine of its 10 shots after the halftime break and earned eight penalty corners.
Rachel Cahan made two saves in the first 14:57 before leaving. She was replaced by Robin Levy. She made six stops, four in the second half.
Ithaca outshot Rochester, 13-10, and held a 14-11 advantage on penalty corners.
The Yellowjackets are 8-6. Rochester plays at St. Lawrence on Friday and at Hamilton on Saturday in Liberty League action.
