Jessie Graham sank 6 three-point goals and tied the Rochester single-game and Palestra records on her way to a career high 22 points to lead the Yellowjackets to a 79-50 win over Emory University tonight at the Palestra.
The game unfolded in much the same way as last Sunday's. Rochester and Emory stayed close throughout the first half. Rochester put together a 10-2 run to put the 'Jackets ahead 21-11 with 9:09 remaining, their only double-digit lead of the first half. Emory then cut the 'Jacket lead to 4 with 7:29 remaining on a layup by Beth Bergmann.
Rochester pulled away in the second half and did not let up. Jessie Graham opened up the half with her third of six three-point goals, on her way to tying the team and Palestra records for most three-point goals in a game. The last 'Jacket to match that figure was Erika Smith, against Brandeis in 2003.
Three 'Jackets posted double-digit scoring performances, led by Graham with 22. Kelly Wescott, in her first game since injuring her wrist against NYU in January, chipped in 15, while Catherine Adams posted 11. Emily Lyons dished out a career-high 6 assists, while Megan Krebbeks, Graham, and Ashley Latimer pulled down 5 boards apiece.
Scoring leaders for Emory were Lynn Obershmidt and Beth Bergmann with 11 points each. Alex Breedlove pulled down 6 rebounds.
With this win, Rochester improves to 10-8 overall, 3-5 in the UAA, while Emory falls to 6-12, 2-6 in the UAA.
Rochester's next challenge comes on Sunday, when Case Western Reserve University visits the Palestra. Game time is 3pm.
