Rochester had the individual champion, but the men's cross country team had to settle for a split in a three-team match with RIT and SUNY Fredonia.

The Yellowjackets totaled 38 points to finish second. RIT was first with 21 points and host Fredonia was third with 76.

Mark Stevens was the individual champion (26:33), but four other men came through the tape before Kevin McGettrick finished sixth (27:43). Freshman Daniel Chebot was eighth overall (27:49), Joe Lust was 11th (27:56), Dan Mueller 12th (27:59), and Rob Fitzgerald next (28:39).

“We're much more talented than we showed,” said Yellowjacket head coach John Izzo. “Stevens ran a good race. I have high expectations for this team.”
