Mary DiMatteo scored on a pass from Celi Fletcher to snap a 2-2 tie and carry Rochester to a 3-2 field hockey win over William Paterson University in New Jersey.
Fletcher had two assists. Krista Butler and Erica Gelb scored goals in addition to DiMatteo. Kari Plewniak had one assist.
Rachel Cahan made nine saves and allowed two goals to pick up the win.
WPU took a 1-0 lead with 12:32 left in the first half (Lauren Clark scored from Katie Jo Cirpriani). The Yellowjackets answered just over a minute later. Butler turned Fletcher's pass into the nets with 11:24 left in the half.
William Paterson made it 2-1 with 5:55 left in the opening half. Cirpriani's pass found the stick of Marissa Horner and she put the home team ahead. Plewniak set up Gelb for the tying goal as time expired in the first period.
DiMatteo steered in the Fletcher pass at 55:39. William Paterson outshot the Yellowjackets 12-7 and took 17 penalty corners to Rochester's five.
The Yellowjackets are 2-1 and head to Montclair State University on Sunday.
