ROANOKE, VA – The women's soccer team opened the 2006 campaign in similar fashion to the 2005 season – the Yellowjackets defeated a strong opponent 1-0 in the first round of a tournament.
Rochester defeated Catholic University, 1-0, in the first round of the Roanoke College Tournament on Saturday. The win puts Rochester into the title match against host Roanoke on Sunday.
A year ago, the Yellowjackets defeated Mary Washington College, and Gettysburg, both 1-0 at the Gettysburg Invitational.
Angela Heaney scored the goal, converting a pass from Stephanie Klenotich, at 33:15. Rochester held an 11-4 advantage in shots. In goal, Molly Leitch made two saves for the shutout.
