Steve Welles scored two first half goals, both assisted by J.J. Dennstedt to spark the men's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over Houghton College.
Jeremy Mann and Clif White scored in the second half for the Yellowjackets. It was Rochester's eighth straight victory. The Yellowjackets are 11-2-1 overall and ranked sixth in the current NSCAA Division III poll.
Welles and Dennstedt combined for the first two scores within a 15-minute span. At 29:48, a corner kick banged around in the box before Dennstedt slid it to Welles for the first goal.
Less than a minute before halftime - at 44:15 - Dennstedt dropped a ball back and across the box. Welles cracked a low, hard shot inside the left post.
Mann made it 3-0 just four minutes into the second half. A hard shot was taken from the left side of the penalty area. Houghton goalkeeper Erik Lefebvre did a split and kicked the ball out, but it went straight to Mann who drove it home at 49:23.
White completed the scoring at 74:00. A Houghton defender knocked down a clearance at midfield, but lost track of the ball. White stepped in, took the ball, and broke in alone.
Rochester held a 14-5 advantage in shots, 8-2 in shots on goal. The Yellowjackets had 13 corner kicks and did not surrender one.
Michael Peacock played the first 65 minutes in goal. Brandon Campbell played the final 25. They combined for two saves.
