SLU Edges Field Hockey, 1-0

CANTON, N.Y. - Twentieth-ranked St. Lawrence scored early in the second half and held off a late Rochester flurry for a 1-0 field hockey win.

Rachel Cahan produced a season's high 14 saves for the Yellowjackets. SLU unleashed 29 shots overall, 15 on net. The Saints outshot the Yellowjackets, 29-12, and had a 12-5 edge in penalty corners.

Rachel Burke tapped in a pass from Joss-Elyse Smith at 41:50 for the game's only goal. The Saints thought they had a 1-0 lead just before halftime but the goal was ruled to have been scored after time expired in the period.

Rochester stepped up the pressure in the second half and forced Saint goaltender Lindsey Taylor to make four of her seven saves in that flurry. Most of the shots came off penalty corners in the final three minutes.
