Late Goal Ties #23 SLU



CANTON, N.Y. - Sean Hantes scored with less than eight minutes left in regulation to help the men's soccer team tie 23rd-ranked St. Lawrence, 2-2, in double overtime.

Michael Peacock, who came on for Paco Corbalan midway through the second half, posted four saves over the final 42 minutes of regulation and overtime to get his first collegiate decision.

Rochester took a 1-0 lead at 21:23 when Scott Cady scored off a pass from Patrick Ripp. The Saints, ranked #23 in this week's NSCAA poll, equalized at 46:53 through a goal from James Stewart, assisted by James Merrill.

St. Lawrence pushed in front, 2-1, on an unassisted goal by Terrance O'Brien at 62:16. Hantes tied the score at 82:17, steering home a pass from Dominic Pellingra.

Corbalan made one save and allowed two goals in the first 67:49. Peacock played the last 42:11 and had four saves. Emilio Coletta made seven saves and allowed two goals for the Saints. He played the full 110 minutes.

Rochester held an 18-13 edge in shots. St. Lawrence led in corner kicks, 4-2.

The Yellowjackets are 1-1-1 and play at Clarkson on Saturday. St. Lawrence is 2-0-1.
