Christi Bottcher and Allison Beardsley scored inthe first 10 minutes as Rochester rolled past Ithaca, 4-1, in field hockey on Wednesday.
Kyra Pinsky and Erica Gelb scored the other Yellowjacket goals. Gelb and Lara Bucarey had assists. Rochester snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 10-6 overall.
Courtney Clark scored for the Bombers, assisted by Katherine Brown. Ithaca is 5-7 overall.
Danielle Pearson made nine saves in goal for Rochester. Courtney Dowell made eight saves for Ithaca and Annie Onzik had a defensive save.
At 4:06, Gelb steered a penalty corner to the top of the arc and Bottcher whistled a low shot into the back of the cage. beardsley made it 2-0 at 9:17. Her first shot was stopped by Dowell and she managed to stuff the rebound home.
Just 1:16 before halftime, Bucarey sent in a long pass from right wing where Pinsky was there to steer it home for a 3-0 edge.
Ithaca got on the scoreboard early in the second half. Brown's angled pass from the right was tipped home by Clark at 42:35.
Gelb got that one back, getting to a loose ball just outside the crease and shoving it into the wood at the back of the cage through a tangle of legs and sticks. Dowell made three big saves in the flurry just before the Gelb goal.
