Field Hockey Blanks Hamilton, 3-0



Allison Beardsley scored two goals and Erica Gelb had one to lead the University of Rochester to a 3-0 victory over Hamilton College in field hockey at Edwin Fauver Stadium.

The victory boosts Rochester's overall record to 11-6, 2-4 in the Liberty League. Hamilton, which is one of six teams still in the league playoff hunt, is 6-6 overall, 3-3 in Liberty League play.

Gelb put the Yellowjackets ahead at 19:41. She deflected the ball past Hamilton goaltender Courtney DeMaria from six yards out. Beardsley's first goal came at 45:54, a 10-yarder. Her second tally sealed the victory at 64:53. Katie Moll played the ball into the center and Beardsley one-timed a shot into the back of the cage.

DeMaria made six saves in goal for Hamilton. Danielle Pearson made six saves to earn the shutout for the Yellowjackets. Hamilton had a 7-3 advantage on penalty corners.
