PITTSBURGH, Pa - J.J. Dennstedt poached a goal in the opening minute of play and Scott Cady continued his knack for scoring key goals as the men's soccer team defeated Carnegie Mellon, 2-0, in a match of nationally-ranked teams.
The Yellowjackets entered the match ranked 18th nationally and Carnegie Mellon was 11th. With the victory, Rochester improved to 3-0 in the UAA, 9-1-2 overall. Carnegie Mellon is 10-2-1 overall, 1-2 in the UAA.
In the opening minute, CMU goalkeeper Matt Bazin tried to pass the ball out of his penalty area. Dennstedt got to it and deflected it into the net with the match just 46 seconds old.
