Erica Gelb set up one goal and scored another within five minutes of the first half to spark the University of Rochester to a 4-0 victory at Ohio Wesleyan University.
Christi Bottcher, Kyra Pinsky, and Anna Dobrzynski scored the other Rochester goals. Lara Bucarey had one assist. The Yellowjackets improved to 9-4 and posted their second shutout in as many days. On Saturday, Rochester defeated Washington & Jefferson College. Ohio Wesleyan, which plays in the North Coast Athletic Association, is 7-3.
Danielle Pearson made four saves for her third shutout this year. The Yellowjackets also had one team save. For OWU, Krista Murray played the first 35 minutes in the cage. She allowed three goals and made six saves. Liz Searfos played the second 35 minutes. She gave up one goal and made one save.
Bottcher opened the scoring at 13:26, steering home a penalty corner from Gelb. At 18:49, Bucarey played the ball upfield. Gelb collected it, turned, and fired into the cage.
Pinsky stretched the lead to 3-0 at the break when she scored on her own rebound at 21:26. Dobrzynski finished the scoring at 55:38 by rifling home a rebound.
Rochester held an 18-12 advantage in shots. Ohio Wesleyan had 11 penalty corners to 10 for the Yellowjackets.
Next weekend, Rochester returns to Liberty League play with matches at Skidmore and Union Colleges. The Yellowjackets return to Fauver Stadium on October 15 where they will play four of their last five regular season matches.
