GRANTHAM, PA - Second-ranked Messiah College scored two goals in the last four minutes of each half to turn a close game into a 5-1 victory over the Yellowjacket women's soccer team.
Rochester took a 1-0 lead in the 39th minute and held that advantage for three minutes - until Messiah struck for goals at 42:50 and 44:53. The Falcons, who have gone to four straight Final Fours, stretched their advantage to 3-1 at 60:10. Two more goals on counterattacks in the last four minutes of the game (85:36, 86:14) nailed it down.
Two newcomers combined for the Rochester goal. Freshman Ellen Coleman took the ball down to the end lien and crossed it into the middle where Jessica Smith steered it home at 39:38.
Celeste Hornbach made four saves in goal and the Yellowjacket defense cleared one ball off the line. Messiash's Brindley Beckwith made five saves. Messiash held an 18-9 advantage in shots. Rochester plays at Gettysburg College on Sunday.
