Freshman Shayna McKie scored twice in a seven-minute span in the second half as the University of Rochester pulled away for a 5-1 field hockey victory over visiting Utica College at Edwin Fauver Stadium.
Anna Dobrzynski, Allison Beardsley, and Lara Bucarey scored single goals for the Yellowjackets (4-2). Christi Bottcher had two assists and Erica Gelb had one.
The Utica goal was scored by Sarah Keller at 44:26 to cut the deficit to 3-1. McKie (50:43) and Bucarey (56:44) scored for the final margin.
Amanda McDonnell made nine saves in 70 minutes for the Pioneers (2-4). Danielle Pearson had three saves for Rochester.
The Yellowjackets had a 23-10 shot advantage and a 6-5 edge on penalty corners. It was Rochester's third win in the last four matches. Utica had a two-game winning streak snapped.
Dobrzynski scored from five yards out at 17:21. Beardsley made it 2-0 at 24:48, tipping home a shot by Bottcher after Gelb's penalty corner. McKie converted another tip-in for her first goal at 43:01, this one off a shot by Bottcher.
Keller pulled one goal back, sweeping the ball into the left side of the cage after being knocked to the ground. McKie got it back to 4-1 at 50:43 and Bucarey lifted a Gelb penalty corner inside the left post at 56:44.
