Rochester defeated Grove City College, 5-0, on the second day of the Fredonia Days Inn Soccer Tournament. The Yellowjackets were 2-0 in the two-day affair and outscored both opponents by a combined 10-1 margin.
Freshman Ellen Coleman finished with a goal and an assist. The other Rochester goalscorers were Mae Butler, Laura Bojko, Erin Carballo, and Kirsten Ross.
Sara Goico, who scored two goals in Friday's 5-1 win over Penn State Behrend, was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. She was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Coleman, Bojko, and Lindsay Rood.
The game was scoreless until late in the first half when Butler collected a pass from Rood and drove it into the net at 43:31. Bojko wasted no time in doubling the score. Her goal came at 45:56, assisted by Coleman.
Carballo (63:40, unassisted) and Coleman (66:57, set up by Bridgette Varin) scored less than four minutes apart midway through the second half to open a 4-0 lead. Ross completed the scoring by making a solo run into the box and scored at 81:25.
Shannon Alderfer picked up the shutout win for the Yellowjackets. She was not required to make a save. Diana Pragel made eight saves for Grove City. Rochester held a 26-2 shot advantage and a 9-1 edge on corner kicks.
