ST. LOUIS - Host Washington University scored in the fifth minute of sudden death overtime to edge the University of Rochester, 2-1, in women's soccer.
Caryn Rosoff flicked in a pass from Emma Brown at 94:04 to give #16 Washington the 2-1 victory. The Bears are 10-2-1 overall, 3-0-1 in the UAA. Rochester is ranked #21. The Yellowjackets are 9-2-3 overall, 3-1-0 in the UAA. Washington has 10 points and leads the UAA standings. Rochester is tied with Chicago for second place. Each team has nine points. The Yellowjackets defeated 11th-ranked Chicago, 3-1, on Friday night.
Washington took a 1-0 lead at 18:10 when Becca Heymann scored after a corner kick deflection by Rochester. The Yellowjackets got even two minutes later. Erin Carballo drove the ball into the top corner of the net at 20:23.
The Bears had a slight 11-10 edge in shots. Corner kicks were even at 7-7. Celeste Hornbach made five saves for Rochester. Clara Jaques had four saves for the Bears.
