CANTON, NY – Host St. Lawrence scored two goals in the first 11 minutes and went on to a 7-1 field hockey victory over the University of Rochester on Friday afternoon.
The Saints improved to 5-1 on the season, 1-0 in Liberty League play. Rochester is 3-4 overall, 0-1 in the league. The Yellowjackets play at Hamilton College on Saturday.
Taylor Vogt scored twice in the first half and added one assist. She opened the scoring at 7:18, collecting a pass from Michelle Laframboise and chipping it past Danielle Pearson. The Saints moved ahead, 2-0, at 10:32. Emily Riley had the goal with Vogt and Laframboise picking up assists after a penalty corner. Vogt netted her second goal of the match at 26:53, picking up a turnover and bouncing a shot into the cage.
LaFramboise set up another goal early in the second half (42:25), then scored one of her own at 44:10 as the Saints extended their lead.
The Rochester goal was scored by Anna Dobrzynski at 68:16, set up by Christi Bottcher.
