Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Wooster Edges Rochester, 4-3, in OT

Clare Nelson-Johnson scored 4:05 into the second sudden death overtime period to lead the College of Wooster to a 4-3 field hockey victory over Rochester at Fauver Stadium.

The Fighting Scots scored twice in a five-minute span late in the second half to force the OT. Wooster is 8-5 overall. Rochester, which played its second overtime game in the last four days (and fifth of the season), is 5-8.

Anna Dobrzynski put Rochester ahead at 9:25 after a penalty corner by Anisha Gundewar. It was her ninth goal of the season.

Amanda Artman equalized for the Scots on a penalty stroke at 11:53. It was awarded seconds after Rochester's Darragh Kerr made the first of her three defensive saves. Artman drove the ball high to the right side.

Rochester took a 2-1 lead at 24:49. Allison Beardsley pushed a pass ahead and Samantha Crandall scored from six yards out. The Yellowjackets added a third goal at 50:55. Beardsley made a lengthy solo run down the right sideline. She ran along the endline, crossed in front of the goal, and tucked the ball past Liz Plumley for a 3-1 lead.

Artman pulled the Scots within 3-2 at 56:23. She scored from four yards out on the right side, converting a pass from Nikki Sever. Wooster got even at 61:40. Eileen Barrer's penalty corner was driven home from the top of the circle by Stephanie Standera.

The gamewinning goal came after Rochester goaltender Madison Wagner stopped Artman from close range on the right side. The ball hit a couple of sticks. Nelson-Johnson finally settled it and wristed a shot just under the grasp of Wagner.

Wagner made 15 saves for Rochester. Plumley had two stops for Wooster. The Scots held a 31-12 advantage in shots and a 20-5 margin in penalty corners.
