Shelby Hall scored her first career hat trick to lead the University of Rochester to a 6-2 victory over Vassar College in field hockey on Saturday.
The Yellowjackets put the game away for good by scoring three more goals in the second half, all in the last 10 minutes, two of those within a minute.
Rochester improved to 6-9 overall and 2-4 in the Liberty League. The Yellowjackets play at RPI on Sunday. Vassar is 0-6 in the Liberty League, 2-13 overall.
Anna Dobrzynski scored twice in the final 10 minutes. Anisha Gundewar scored once. Lindsey Randalls had two assists for the Yellowjackets. Darragh Kerr and Allison Beardsley had one assist apiece.
Cameron Felt scored the first Vassar goal (7:24) and assisted on the second (28:38). After Felt's opener, Hall scored at 11:42, then put the Yellowjackets ahead, 2-1, from Randall at 20:42. Maura McCarthy scored from Felt's pass to tie it at 28:38. Hall, with Randall assisting, put Rochester ahead for good at 30:18.
In the second half, Dorzynski scored at 61:43 and 67:41. Gundewar tallied at 66:56.
Rochester outshot Vassar 16-6. Madison Wagner made three saves in the Rochester case. Rachel Horwitz made five saves for Vassar.
