Softball Sweeps RIT to Run Win Streak to Seven

HENRIETTA, N.Y. - Rochester swept a doubleheader from RIT in softball on Thursday afternoon. The Yellowjackets ran their winning streak to seven straight.

The Yellowjackets won game one, 3-0, and took the nitecap, 6-4. Rochester is 11-7 overall. RIT is 7-5. This came a day after a sweep of St. John Fisher at GLC Field.

Sara Hutchinson pitched a five-hit shutout in game one. She didn't allow a walk and she struck out eight. In game two, Madeline Skellie worked the first 6.2 innings, allowing eight hits, four runs (all earned), with one walk and one strikeout. With one aboard and two outs in the seventh, Hutchinson came in to strike out the last hitter for her third save this year.

Juliana Nicholson was 2 for 3 with one run scored and one RBI in the opener. M.C. Wagner had two hits as did Lindsay Macaluso. Nikki Lee DiSalvio had the other Rochester RBI.

In game two, Kim Grimes homered for the third time in the last four games. She hit a two-run shot in the first inning. Erin Clark also homered for the Yellowjackets. Macaluso was 2 for 4 with one run scored and one RBI. Cara Celorio had an RBI as well.
