Rochester rallied in the seventh inning to win the opener, then broke it open late in game two for a 4-3, 8-3 sweep of Buffalo State College on Wednesday. Erin Clark singled home pinch-runner Jaclyn Inglis in the bottom of the seventh inning to cap a two-run rally and push Rochester past the Bengals in the first game of the doubleheader. In the nitecap, Nikki Lee DiSalvio had two hits and two RBIs. Clark was 3-for-3 in game two, including a steal of home in the fourth inning.
Madeline Skellie earned the game one win for Rochester (15-10). She allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits, struck out one, and walked one. The Bengals (13-13) scored single runs in the fourth (on a double by Breanna Fenski) and fifth (Laken Pogorzelski scored on a fielding error after a single by Sara Morse).
Rochester tied it in the sixth. Clark reached second on an error. Natalee Sassaman walked and Cara Celorio singled past third to load the bases. Clark scored on a wild pitch.
In the Buffalo State seventh, pinch-runner Krista Baker scored on a single by Morse to edge ahead, 3-2. Katie McLean reached on an error to start Rochester's seventh. DiSalvio's bunt was thrown away, putting runners at second and third. Kim Grimes was walked intentionally to load the bases. Juliana Nicholson's (Webster Thomas) groundout scored the tying run. After another intentional walk, Clark hit the first pitch down the right field line.
Buffalo Scored scored three times in the fourth inning of game two to go ahead, 3-1. Sam Strapason, Kyrstin Lekki, and Kaylee Lekki had RBI singles. Rochester got a run back when Clark stole home in the fourth. M.C. Wagner singled home McLean in the fifth to tie the score and Nicholson came around on the same play, scoring when Wagner got caught in a rundown and evaded the tag before the Bengals could throw home. The Yellowjackets broke it open with four in the sixth. DiSalvio drove in two and Nicholson hit an RBI single.
Sara Hutchinson allowed six hits, three earned runs, walked two, and struck out seven to get the win. Tricia Kennery pitched into the sixth for Buffalo State, She gave up 11 hits, eight runs (four earned), struck out three, and walked two.
