SCHNECTADY, N.Y. - Union College defeated Rochester twice in softball on Sunday, winning game one, 12-4, and game two, 11-0.
Both games were ended by the mercy rule. Game one was halted with two outs and two runners on in the bottom of the sixth. In game two, Union batted around in each of the first and second innings.
Madeline Skellie took the game one loss for Rochester. She allowed four hits, four runs (two earned), and walked one in one inning plus three batters. Sara Hutchinson gave up 12 hits, eight runs (six earned), and struck out four in 4.2 innings.
In the nitecap, Cara Celorio started. Union got six hits, seven runs, and two walks in an inning and a third. Madeline Skellie pitched two and two-thirds, allowing six hits and four runs (none earned) with one walk and one strikeout.
Erin Clark was 3 for 3 with three RBIs in the opener. Katie McLean scored twice. In game two, the Yellowjackets hade two hits - one by Inglis and one by Clark.
Rochester is 17-12 overall, 2-2 in the Liberty League. Union is 16-6, 2-0. Rochester will host Ithaca at GLC Field on Tuesday.
