Rochester was unable to cash in a number of good chances and settled for a 1-1 double overtime tie with Nazareth College at Fauver Stadium on Tuesday night.
Nazareth goalkeeper Kyle Connolly made nine saves to frustrate Rochester. With one minute left in the first overtime period, the ball was centered to Chris Blivin. His first-timer was ticketed for just under the crossbar, but Connolly punched it over the bar for a corner kick.
Blivin opened the scoring before the match was three minutes old. Joish Richards took a long shot from left wing. As Connolly started to come out, Blivin dashed in to tip the ball into the lower right hand corner at 2:16.
Nazareth countered with its speed. A long ball upfield from Sean Dorman found Ryan Foley running down the middle of the pitch. He outpaced a Yellowjacket defender, ran in alone on Rochester goalkeeper Scott Garfing, and slid it past Garfing to equalize with 16 seconds left in the half.
The Yellowjackets held a 33-9 edge on shots (10-3 in shots on goal) and 17-7 in corner kicks. Rochester is 4-0-3 overall. Nazareth, which broke a three-match losing streak, is 1-4-2.
