HENRIETTA, N.Y. - Scott Garfing and Mike Moranz combined on a shutout and Jimmy Parrinello scored the gamewinner midway through the second half of a 1-0 men's soccer win over RIT.
The Yellowjackets boosted their record to 6-0-3. RIT is 5-4-1.
Garfing picked up the win. He made one save. He played 60:26 in goal - the first 15:26 of the match and the entire 45 minutes of the second half. Moranz played 29:34 of the first half. He was not required to make a save. RIT goalkeeper Sean Conway made two saves.
The Yellowjackets had a chance to break through in the 18th minute. Sean Coyne's shot was blocked and the rebound came to Scott Zorn. His shot was cleared off the line by RIT's Jake Yates.
Rochester notched its goal at 67:40. Josh Richards crossed it and Parrinello hit a first-timer into the net.
RIT applied pressure in the latter stages of the match and produced several chances off corner kicks. Yates hit an in-swinger that Dan Holowaty headed twoards goal but Garfing produced a save to keep the Tigers scoreless.
Rochester opens University Athletic Association play this weekend, traveling to NYU on Saturday.
