Ellen Coleman scored one goal and assisted on another as Rochester defeated Brandeis, 2-0, in the UAA women's soccer opener for each school.
Coleman's three points also boosted her career point total to 102, making her the second player in school history to top 100 career points.
The key number is the 'W'. Rochester is 6-2 overall, 1-0 in the UAA. Brandeis is 4-6 overall, 0-1 UAA. Last year, Rochester nipped the Judges, 1-0, at Fauver Stadium. Both teams eventually advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs.

Rachel Wesley played the ball to Coleman on the left side of the goal. She struck her shot across the facing of the goalmouth and into the right corner of the net. It was her fifth goal of the season.

Bridget Lang made three saves to get the shutout for Rochester. Michelle Savuto played 33:29 in goal for Brandeis with one save. Francine Kofinas played 56:31 and made two saves. She allowed the Rochester goals. The Judges also cleared one ball off the line.
Brandeis held a slim 13-11 advantage in shots.
