Alex Scott headed in a corner kick from David Garofalo in the 11th minute and Emory University earned a 1-0 victory over Rochester in a UAA soccer match on Sunday morning.

The Emory win boosted the Eagles to 7-6 overall, 2-2 in the UAA. Rochester is 8-3-1 overall, 2-1-1 in the UAA.

Andrew Jones chased a loose ball down left wing and centered it. His pass was cleared over the endline for a corner kick by the Yellowjackets. On the corner. Garofalo swung it out of the left corner to Scott at the far (right) post. He headed it towards the center of the net, just under the crossbar.

Rochester chipped the ball over the defense to Alex Swanger as goalkeeper Andrew Goldblum charged off the line. The defense was able to clear the ball away.

Both teams had chances in the second half. Twelve minutes in, a Rochester free kick from left wing was cleared up top. Scott Zorn chipped it back inside and Swanger's header was wide right.

With 15 minutes left, Garofalo's corner kick found Nao Masuda on the back post. He got his shot under goalkeeper Scott Garfing, but Jakob Seidlitz cleared it off the line. Rochester's last good chance came with just over two minutes to play. The ball came over from right wing to Alex Osuch on the crease. His header for the left corner went just past the left post.
