Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Second Half Burst Carries 'Jackets Past NYU

Ellen Coleman scored two goals and assisted on another to lead the University of Rochester to a 3-0 women's soccer victory over New York University on Saturday at Edwin Fauver Stadium.

The Yellowjackets improved to 7-3 overall, 2-0 in the University Athletic Association. The Violets are 8-4 overall, 0-2 UAA.  Rochester is ranked No. 25 in the NSCAA Division III poll this week.

Coleman scored one goal and assisted on another in a six minute span early in the second half. Rachel Wesley swept down right wing on a counter attack for Rochester and centered the ball to Coleman. She sidestepped a defender and fired into the right side of the goal at 46:42.

Six minutes later, Coleman chased a loose ball deep into the NYU penalty area. She saved it on the endline, drove past a defender, and shoved a pass into the center of the box where it was touched home by Hayley Engel at 52:43.

The Wesley to Coleman combination clicked again, this time at 66:09, for a 3-0 lead. Wesley pushed the ball forward. Coleman spun 25 yards from goal and lined it into the lower left hand corner of the net.

Bridget Lang made three saves in 76:18 for Rochester. Allison Bernstein played the final 13:42 without needing to make a save. Meg Patten made five saves for NYU.
