PITTSBURGH, PA- The University of Rochester women's volleyball squad its dropped two matches on Saturday to host Carnegie Mellon and #6 ranked Emory University at the UAA's 2nd round robin matches.
The Yellowjackets dropped the first match to the home Tartans in three sets while the Eagles upended UR in four sets.
In the opening match, Carnegie Mellon (11-12, 1-3 UAA) took control from the start and took the first set 25-16. UR couldn't match CMU in the next two sets either, with the Tartans taking the second 25-20 and the third and deciding set 25-21.
Senior
Kelly Mulrey was the leader in match one, firing 17 kills and providing 12 digs.
Alma Guevara had 11 kills and eight digs for UR.
Xiaoyi Li provided 35 assists and 10 digs while
Lauren Bujnicki had 18 digs.
Carnegie's Senna Parsa had 14 kills and 10 digs while Rachel Miller provided 11 kills and 12 digs.
In the second match of the day, #6 Emory (20-3, 4-0 UAA) handled the Yellowjackets in the first two sets 25-10, 25-13. UR battled back to take the third 25-21 to make the Eagles sweat a little, but Emory took the fourth 25-12 to seal the match.
In that one, Mulrey once again paced the Yellowjackets with 13 kills.
Sara Ribakove also finished with double digit kills, ending with 10. Dig leaders for the Yellowjackets were Bujnicki with eight and Mulrey with seven. Li had 21 assists for the Yellowjackets who now sit at 16-8 overall, 1-4 in the UAA.
Emory had three players reach double digit kills in Breanah Bourque (14), Kate Bowman (11) and Alex Duhl (10). The Eagles had 12 service aces on the day.
Rochester has two more matches to close out the UAA round robin schedule on Sunday, when they face off against #12 ranked University of Chicago and NYU at 2 and 4 pm.
