A layup and free throw from Bonney got Hobart within seven, 32-24, with 6:19 left in the first half. In the next 90 seconds, Vernon drove for a layup, DiBartolomeo sank a three-pointer, and Reid dropped in a layup from DiBartolomeo to stretch the lead to 38-24 with 4:38 left. Rochester led, 46-32, at the half.

Early in the second half, DiBartolomeo scored seven points as part of a 10-0 run (Vernon hit a trey for the other three points) over 1:47 to give Rochester its largest lead, 60-42, with 14:33 left.

Hobart's Rezin Davis and Seidman traded three-pointers before the Statesmen scored 10 straight – six from a pair of Thompson three-pointers – to move within eight, 63-55, with 9:27 left.
