Lindsey Randall scored one goal and set up two others as Rochester defeated visiting SUNY Oswego, 6-0, in field hockey on Sunday evening.
Katie Flaschner scored twice for the Yellowjackets (2-0).
Megan Keil had a goal and an assist.
Shelby Hall and
Belle Hoagland had single goals. Rochester held a 30-3 advantage in shots, 19-0 in the first half.
Nicole Moccaldi played the first 59:58 in goal for Oswego (0-2). She made 10 saves and allowed five goals. Grace Lombardi made two saves and allowed one goal in the final 10:02.
Madison Wagner and
Tara Lamberti split the shutout for Rochester. Wagner played the first 35 minutes and did not need to make a save. Lamberti played the final 35 minutes. She had one save.
Rochester scored three goals in the first 19 minutes. Hoagland made it 1-0 at 10:17 off Randall's pass from right wing. Randall scored an unassisted goal at 12:59, getting to a loose ball in the center of the circle and scoring from eight yards away. At 18:26, Keil drove a penalty corner to the left side of the circle where Flaschner lobbed the ball into the top corner.
Hall tipped in a shot at 49:53, Flaschner scored from right win at 55:10 (with Randall assisting), and Keil drove home a rebound at 61:18.
The game came just over 24 hours after Rochester opened its season with a 5-0 win at Kenyon College in Syracuse. The Yellowjackets play at Nazareth College on Wednesday night, then host Geneseo on Friday and Oneonta State next Sunday.
