HENRIETTA, N.Y. - Rochester dropped a couple of closely-played games in its two matches at the New York Regional Challenge hosted by RIT on Saturday. In their opening match, the Yellowjackets lost, 3-0, to St. Lawrence (24-26, 22-25, 13-25). They followed that with a four-game loss to Stevens Institute of Technology, 3-1 (11-25, 25-18, 23-25, 16-25).

Savannah Benton and Emma Gira were the top two in kills vs. the Saints. Benton had 12 kills. Gira finished with eight. Jennie Ford had four kills and seven digs.

Ashley Hunter registered three service aces. Xiaoyi Li had 24 assists and four digs. Meghan Connor had seven digs.

In the match vs. Stevens, Rochester hit .263 in game two, a 25-18 victory. The Yellowjackets hit accurately in games three (.286) and four (.412), but Stevens hit better. In game three, Stevens hit .333 and in game four, .261.

Benton led Rochester with 16 kills and one block assist. Ford ad eight kills, 11 digs, and one block assist. Paige Idziur had 16 digs. Li had 12 digs and 26 assists. Connor dug 12 attacks and Gira contributed two kills, two solo blocks, and one block assist.

Rochester completes the 2013 season this coming weekend in the UAA Championships being hosted by Brandeis University.
