DiBartolomeo Inks Pro Contract in Spain

John DiBartolomeo '13, one of the best players in University of Rochester men's basketball history, recently signed a contract with CAI Zaragoza in Spain's Liga Endesa (top division) to continue his basketball career on the professional level.
 
CAI Zaragoza announced on Sunday that they had inked DiBartolomeo (Westport, CT) to a three year contract.  He is currently in preseason training with the club at the request of head coach José Luis Abós but will be loaned to Palma Air Europa of the Liga Endesa Silver Division.
 
Earlier this summer, DiBartolomeo competed in the Eurobasket Summer League of Madrid and was one of the tournament's top players and earned MVP honors.  He played for La Avanzada and helped the team to a 3-2 record and an appearance in the tournament final where they lost to La Serna 81-62.
 
In four games in the tournament, DiBartolomeo averaged 13.0 ppg, 4.5 rpg and 3.0 apg.  His tournament was highlighted by a 30 point, 5 rebound, 4 assist performance in an earlier game against La Serna.
 
In 2012-13, CAI Zaragoza ended the season 3rd in the Liga Endesa of 18 total teams.  In the Silver Dvision, Palma Air Europa captured the league title beating Clinicas Rincon in the best of 5 series 3-2.
 
Last season with Rochester, DiBartolomeo was a consensus 1st Team All-American in Division III and was named Player of the Year by D3Hoops.com and DIII News.  He ranks 3rd all-time at UR in scoring (1,779 points), 2nd in assists (533), 2nd in steals (201), and 2nd in free-throws made and attempted (520-601).  He finished his career averaging 17.8 ppg, 5.3 apg, 4.6 rpg in 33.4 minutes per game.
 
He was a two time UAA Player of the Year and was named the conference's Rookie of the Year following the 2009-10 season.
 
He also earned the Rochester Athletic Departments Louis Alexander Alumni Award and was honored as the 2013 Paychex Local Male College Athlete of the Year as presented by the Rochester Press Radio Club.
