SCHENECTADY, NY- Sophomore Michelle Relin scored three goals and added an assist to command the University of Rochester field hockey team to a 6-1 victory over Union College on Saturday afternoon.

Rochester (5-1, 1-0 LL) scored four second half goals and pulled away from the host Dutchwomen (1-4, 0-1 LL) in the Liberty League opener for both teams

Relin scored the game winner, Rochester's second goal of the day at 27:26 in the first half and added two more second half goals and an assist to push her season total to 17 points (6 G, 5 A) through just six games.  The seven point performance is the first in Rochester history and ranks 7th in single game history.

Union was able to get on the board quickly, less than then a minute into the game in fact, when Nicole Merigliano got a pass from Ali Flake and tucked inside the left post just 56 seconds in.

Rochester's Gina Cunningham tied it quickly two minutes later when she scored from close in front of Union keeper Molly McCune.  Relin would make it 2-1 UR in the 28th minute on a penalty stroke goal, scoring the eventual game winner, sending the teams to halftime with a 2-1 score.

Rochester's Allison Resnick, in her first action of the season off a foot injury, scored the opening goal of the second half for the Yellowjackets, finding the cage in front after a pass from Relin.  Cunningham then found Relin for her second of the game two minutes later and Nicole Cerza would score her fourth of the year 30 seconds later, giving Rochester three goals in a 2:43 span.

Relin would finish off the scoring with a 15 yard blast at 57:06, making the score 6-1.

Madison Wagner moved to 5-0 on the year making two saves.  She picked up the 46th victory of her career, four better than 2nd place Rachel Cahan (2004-07) on the Rochester wins list.  Sophomore Tara Lamberti made two saves in the final 13 minutes in the UR net.  McCune made 16 stops for Union.

The Dutchwomen now only lead the all-time series by one game, leading 17-16-1.  Rochester's next game is at Hartwick on Tuesday at 4 pm.
