ONEONTA, N.Y. – Four players scored goals and the University of Rochester ran to a 6-0 victory over Hartwick College at Wright Field on Tuesday afternoon.
The win boosted Rochester's record to 6-1. The Yellowjackets are ranked No. 16 in this week's Division III Field Hockey poll conducted by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. Hartwick is 2-4.
Michelle Relin scored two goals, one in each half, as did Gina Cunningham Lindsey Randall and Katie Flaschner had a goal and an assist. Tiffany White and Allison Resnick each had an assist.
Madison Wagner played the first half in the goal. In 35 minutes, she made one save. Tara Lamberti played the 35-minute second half and also made one save.
Shannon Carter logged the first 43:54 in goal for Hartwick. She made 13 saves, 11 in the first half. She allowed four goals. Jilian Sabatino played the last 26:06. She made four saves and allowed two goals.
Relin connected at 13:22 for a 1-0 lead after a pass from Flaschner. Cunningham doubled the lead at 18:58, tucking home a pass from White. Flaschner scored just before halftime (33:44) and Rochester went into the break with a 3-0 lead.
In the second half, Randall (43:54), Cunningham (46:28), and Relin (from Randall at 49:59) scored rapid-fire goals to stretch the lead to 6-0.
The Yellowjackets held a 32-2 edge in shots, 23-2 in shots on goal. Rochester had nine penalty corners. Hartwick had four. Rochester goaltenders made two saves. Hartwick goaltenders made 17 saves.
Rochester returns home on Saturday, hosting SUNY New Paltz at 12 pm in Edwin Fauver Stadium.
