SAHLENS STADIUM- Senior
Max Fan scored a goal in the 86th minute to draw even the score as the University of Rochester men's soccer team tied RIT 1-1 in the 2nd Annual Hillside Shield match on Saturday night.
Fan headed in a cross from teammate
Andrew Sheridan with just 4:40 to play to even the score in what proved to very evenly played match.
Rochester (5-1-1) held a 14-12 edge in shots, five of which were on goal but the Tigers (3-3-1) earned one more corner kick (5-4).
The Tigers would take the lead early in the second half, scoring on a penalty kick from Danny Bloshkin at 45:34.
Fan scoring in the 86th minute nearly matched the women's game, when the UR women scored at 85:42 on a penalty kick to tie the game at one. The first annual women's community shield ended in a 1-1 draw, much like the men's game.
In the goals, UR senior
Mike Moranz made two saves while RIT's keeper Mark Reeves made four stops for the Tigers.
The Yellowjackets return to the field on Tuesday when they play host to the St. John Fisher Cardinals at 7 pm.
