SAHLEN'S STADIUM- The University of Rochester women's soccer team used a late goal in regulation and used it to force a 1-1 draw with RIT in the first women's Hillside Community Shield match on Saturday night.
Sophomore
Emily Downie scored on a penalty kick goal with 4:18 remaining on just Rochester's fourth shot of the game. Overall, UR (3-3-1) had six total shots, two on goal during the match.
While UR scored late, RIT (4-1-2) scored early in the game, on their first shot on goal by Gwen Neuhaus just 3:30 into the contest. The score came off a corner kick for the Tigers. For the game, RIT held a 5-0 corner kick edge and 8-6 shot advantage.
In goal, senior
Allison Bernstein had two saves for the Yellowjackets while Sienna Fisher made one save for the Tigers.
The Yellowjackets next play at St. John Fisher on Tuesday night at 7 pm.
