NEW YORK – New York University went on a game-deciding 13-3 run over a three-minute span enroute to a 69-60 women's basketball victory over the University of Rochester at the Coles Sports Center on Sunday afternoon.
Kaitlyn Read led NYU with 15 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, and four steals. Megan Dawe scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Lindsey Oldshue scored 10 points and Melissa Peng had nine plus eight assists. NYU is 15-1 overall, 4-1 University Athletic Association.
Blair Landolfi led Rochester (7-9, 1-4) with a career high 20 points. She hit seven of nine from the floor, five of seven outside the 3-point line. She added three steals and five rebounds.
Ally Zywicki had 18 points, including four 3-pointers, and four assists.
Loren Wagner had 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Danielle McNabb was scoreless, but grabbed 11 rebounds and registered seven assists, both career highs.
In a see-saw game, Zywicki made two 3-pointers and Landolfi had one in a 13-2 run that gave UR a 46-42 lead with 9:19 to play. Dawe scored on a putback to start the decisive NYU run. Peng scored six of NYU's 13 points in the spurt. That put NYU ahead, 55-49, with just over six minutes left. The lead eventually grew to seven points, 58-51, in the next minute.
Landolfi sank a trey from the top of the key, then later made a conventional three-point play, hitting a runner in the lane and adding the free throw, to get Rochester within 60-57, with 1:14 left.
NYU made a layup and seven free throws in the final minute to seal the win.
