The University of Rochester field hockey team matched its best start in school history, moving to 8-0 after a 4-1 victory over the College at Brockport on Tuesday afternoon at Fauver Stadium.
Denny notched two assists on Tuesday.The 8-0 start to the season matches the same perfect stretch of the 2012 team, Rochester's only ever team to compete in the NCAA tournament. The 2012 squad ended up reached the NCAA Elite Eight that year.

The visiting Golden Eagles (2-7) got on the board first in the 24th minute. Off a UR turnover, Emilee Boddery fed the ball to Abby Eschen on the far side and then the Brockport senior beat Rochester keeper
Tara Lamberti on the near side for a 1-0 lead.

Less than a minute later, the Yellowjackets got the equalizer when freshman
Claire Dickerson tipped in a shot after classmate
Olivia Denny set up the play with her pass from the center of the circle.

In the 27th minute, UR's
Michelle Relin the tallied her team leading ninth goal of the year giving the Yellowjackets a 2-1 lead. The junior scored after she cleaned up her own rebound and slipped it past Brockport keeper Kayla Kulzer on the stick side.

Late in the half, Brockport's Margo Tremaine bolted down the right side of the field on a fast break and crossed a great ball, leading teammate Amy Masciale, but the ball just skipped over the freshman's stick and out of play.

In the 45th minute, the Yellowjackets were issued a green card leading to two corners for Brockport. The Golden Eagles' Erin Stevener had a chance to tie the score with a tip shot off one of those corners, but Lamberti was there to thwart the scoring chance.

Rochester was able to push the lead to 3-1 on a mad scramble in front of Kulzer. Relin took an initial shot that was saved, but then pushed a pass between the keepers legs where senior
Gina Cunningham tapped in the loose ball for the goal at 49:09.

Two minutes later, Adar notched her first goal of the season off a deflected pass from Denny. The junior was camped at the right post and was wide open off the Denny deflection of a
Callie Fisher cross, giving UR a 4-1 lead.

Brockport's Nicole Fazzolari nearly cut the lead to two in the waning minutes, but her shot after she got the UR keeper out of position sailed wide.

Overall for the game, Lamberti four saves in her 8th straight win while Kulzer loses her first game of the year in a six save effort.

Rochester's next game is a Liberty League home contest against St. Lawrence University on Friday at 4 pm.
