2nd Half Spurt Powers 5-0 Win At Fisher

PITTSFORD, NY – It was all Yellowjackets in a men's soccer contest between the University of Rochester and St. John Fisher College, with UR coming out with a 5-0 victory at Growney Stadium on Tuesday evening.

#15 ranked Rochester (5-1-2) won its second straight game and remains unbeaten in its last seven contests this year.  St. John Fisher drops to 2-6-1 with the loss.

The five goals put up by the Yellowjackets are a season high while goalkeepers Michael Shatkin and Marshal Davidson combined on UR's fifth shutout and fourth in the last five games.  Shatkin made a total of five saves on the night while Davidson played the final 10 minutes and was not challenged.

The Yellowjackets got the scoring started in the 15th minute when senior Jack Thesing headed in a cross from classmate Shane Dobles into the top corner of the net past Cardinal keeper Josh Klein.  That would be the only scoring of the half as Klein ended up making five of his eight saves in the first 45 minutes.

Early in the second half, senior All-American Alex Swanger scored his first of the season, heading in a corner kick from Dobles.

Rochester then put the game away with three late goals, all coming after the 75th minute.  Junior Tyler Buck scored just 29 seconds apart in the 77th minute.  His first score came as a header off a service from the right wing from Seth Davis-Brown.  The second tally was unassisted.  Tuesday was Bucks first career multi-goal game in a Yellowjacket uniform.

The final tally came with 2:11 left on the clock from senior Braden Adcock.  After receiving a pass from Michael Cross, Adcock made a nifty play juking the goalkeeper and recording his first collegiate goal.

The Yellowjackets will now travel to Williamsport, PA for a Saturday contest at Lycoming College.
