PITTSFORD, NY – Michelle Relin and Gina Cunningham netted second half goals as the University of Rochester edged Nazareth College, 2-1, on the Golden Flyers' field on Wednesday evening.

The victory boosts Rochester's record to 2-0 on the young season. Nazareth is 1-1.

Rochester applied steady pressure to the Nazareth goal in the first half, outshooting Naz, 27-1. Led by goaltender Shannon Winney, the Golden Flyers kept it scoreless. Winney finished the match with 23 saves.

The Yellowjackets finally broke through 11 minutes into the second half. Rochester earned a penalty corner. Alexis Wood played it to Belle Hoagland and her pass found Michelle Relin for a goal at 45:38. It was Relin's third goal of the season.

It took 16 more minutes for a second goal. Cunningham netted that one at 61:57, giving her two goals on the year.

Nazareth sliced the deficit in half at 67:52. Kristina Back turned the ball past Rochester goaltender Tara Lamberti after a pass from Maggie Muzio.
For the match, Rochester held a 40-3 advantage in shots and took 17 penalty corners . Nazareth had two penalty corners. Lamberti finished with one save. 

The Yellowjackets return to Fauver Stadium this weekend, hosting Oneonta on Saturday and Ithaca on Sunday. Both matches start at 1 p.m. Rochester opens the Liberty League season on September 13 at home vs. Union College.
