Junior Nicole Cerza scored two goals and Michelle Relin had one as the University of Rochester defeated SUNY Oneonta, 3-2, in field hockey at Edwin Fauver Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Yellowjackets improved to 3-0 with the victory. Oneonta is 2-1.
 
Andrea Day  and Kelcy Forbragd  scored for the Red Dragons.
 
Goaltender Tara Lamberti made six saves in 70 minutes for Rochester. For Oneonta, Tess Tracy made eight saves and allowed all three goals in 49:24. Krista Servedio made two saves in 20:36.
 
Rochester held a 19-13 edge on shots, but Oneonta had the upper hand in penalty corners, earning 12 to six for Rochester.
 
Cerza opened the scoring at 10:23. Margaret Anderle struck the ball from well outside the circle and Cerza redirected it into the left side of the net. Oneonta equalized at 22:35. Sierra Earle fed a pass to Day and she scored from the top of the circle to the low right corner.
 
Relin notched her fourth goal of the season at 26:47 when she beat Tracy to the low left post. It was 2-1 at halftime. The Yellowjackets extended the lead to 3-1 when Cerza's 14-yarder from right wing went through Tracy's legs into the left corner of the net at 43:07.
 
After a penalty corner by Oneonta, the ball came to Sara Rattigan and she found Forbragd stationed just outside the crease on the left side. Forbragd tipped it in, cutting the Rochester lead to 3-2.
 
Servedio kep the deficit at 3-2 by smartly saving a shot from Rochester's Belle Hoagland with just over 13 minutes to play. Rochester withstood several Oneonta forays into the Dragons' offensive zone in the closing minutes. When the Yellowjackets regained possession, they were able to run significant time off the clock in the final minute. Oneonta finally regained possession but as the Dragons tried to move out of their defensive third, Rochester's Megan Keil stole the ball and dribbled out the clock.
 
Rochester remains home on Sunday to host Ithaca College at 1 pm.
