Softball Blanks Finlandia, 10-0, on 1-Hitter

Box Score CLERMONT, FL - Freshman Gabi Alatorre pitched a one-hit shutout in her starting debut as the University of Rochester defeated Finlandia University, 10-0, at the National Training Center on Sunday morning. She struck out nine and did not walk a batter in a game that was halted after five innings due to the mercy rule.

Brittany Grage swung a hot bat again. She was 3-4 with two doubles and foru RBIs. Kayla Kibling was 3-3 with a single, double, and triple. Laurelle Byrne-Cody was 2-3 and stole two bases. Rochester led, 3-0, through four inings, then broke it open with seven runs in the fifth. Finlandia's record was 2-13 after the loss.

Rochester is 2-1 heading into the University Athletic Association championship tournament in Altamonte Springs, FL. The Yellowjackets open with Brandeis at 10 am on Tuesday, then play Washington-St. Louis at 1 pm on the same day. Rochester's 10-game UAA schedule will conclude on March 15 against Emory University.
