Kocak, Goldman Lead UR At Lycoming Tourney

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The University of Rochester volleyball team mounted a big comeback and then swept a 3-0 decision to take two matches at the Lycoming Tip-Off Classic on Friday evening.

The Yellowjackets (15-6) fell behind 2-0 against Susquehanna University before rallying for three straight wins to hand the River Hawks (17-5) the loss.  In the nightcap, Rochester topped Alfred State College (12-2) 3-0, winning their sixth of the last seven matches.

Against the River Hawks, Rochester struggled hitting the ball in the opening set, allowing for Susquehanna to race out to a 25-8 win.  After settling into the match, the teams battled back and forth in the second set, eventually going to the River Hawks in extra points, by a 26-24 score.  The third set was more of the same, with Rochester edging out a 27-25 win.  After that, it was all Rochester in the final two sets, winning 25-14 and 15-9 in the fifth to complete the comeback.

The match against the Pioneers was smooth sailing for the Yellowjackets as Rochester would win with three straight consistent wins, 25-15, 25-15 and 25-14.  Overall in the contest, The Yellowjackets hit a solid .231 as a team, with at least 14 kills in each set.
