CHICAGO – Rochester dropped 3-0 decisions to Washington University and Case Western Reserve University on Sunday afternoon at the University Athletic Association Round Robin #2. The Yellowjackets are 12-10 overall, 2-5 in the UAA.

The losses mean the Yellowjackets will be seeded sixth out of eight for the UAA Championships. That event is scheduled for Emory University in Atlanta in early November. The UAA champion earns an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III playoffs.

Rochester expended a great deal of energy in its match vs. Washington (Bears won, 25-19, 25-23, 26-24). UR played Case Reserve immediately after the Washington match. Case took advantage of UR's tight match vs. Washington, beating the Yellowjackets 25-11, 25-14, 25-23.

Against Washington,
Alara Kocak led the way in kills with 11.
Allie DeRubertis had nine, and
Beth Ghyzel had six. Ranae Lapins had three service aces and 21 assists.
Courtney Vidovich had three aces, six assists, and 17 digs.

Sara Apanavicius recorded one ace. Ghyzel had five assists and 10 digs. Lapins had six digs.

Clara Martinez had two blocks as did Ghyzel and
Tamera Shaw.

Kocak had a team-high 12 kills vs. Case. Martinez produced five kills, and DeRubertis had three. Lapins had two aces. Shaw totaled three blocks. Martinez and Kocak had two apiece.

Lapins had 12 assists, Ghyzel set up 10 points, and
Bianca Dyer had three. Apanavicius had 12 digs. Vidovich produced 11, and Lapins had six.

Rochester returns to the Palestra on Friday night at 6 p.m. to face D'Youville College. It will be Senior Night before the game.
Alexandra Nelligan will be honored before the match begins. She will also receive her Garnish Scholar Award for a combination of athletic skill, academic achievement, and community service.
