The University of Rochester men's tennis team handled visiting Ithaca College on Sunday afternoon, winning 7-2 in a regional match at the Goergen Athletic Center.

Three Yellowjackets were double winners on the day, led by
Masaru Fujimaki who was a winner at #1 singles and #1 doubles. The other UR players to win twice on Sunday were
Tanmay Thakkar at #3 singles and #2 doubles and his doubles partner
Sahaj Somani who also won at #5 singles.

The win moves UR to 2-3 in dual competition this season while the loss pushes the Bombers to 0-1.

Rochester got things started with a strong 8-3 win from Fujimaki and
Peter Huang at 1st doubles over Lorenzo Viguie-Ramos and Sam McGrath. The pair of Thakkar and Somani then put UR up 2-0 with an 8-4 win at #2 over Minos Stavrakas and George Lomas. Ithaca then got on the board with a win at 3rd doubles.

In singles, Rochester's
Yifan Shen got things started with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Liam Spiegel at #4. Thakkar followed with a 6-2, 6-3 straight-set win over Max Prestwich to put the Yellowjackets up 4-1.Â

Ithaca's McGrath defeated
Jun Yuminaga at #2 to keep the Bombers alive, but Fujimaki rallied after dropping the first set at #1 against Stavrakas to earn the clinching point with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 win.

Closing out the match, Somani won, also rallying past Viguie-Ramos, 4-6, 6-1, 10-3.Â
Leo Koblence also picked up a victory, winning 6-2, 1-6, 10-7 at #6 over Lomas.

Rochester is back in action next Saturday with a home match against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
