SCHENECTADY, NY – The University of Rochester men's tennis team closed out the regular season with a 7-2 road victory over Union College on Friday afternoon.

The victory pushes UR's record to 7-11 on the season, while the Dutchmen drop to 3-10 this season.

Two Yellowjackets were double-winners, with
Masaru Fujimaki and
Sahaj Somani each picking up a win in singles and doubles play.

Rochester opened the match with two wins in doubles. The team of Somani and
Mattias Hartveit got things started with an 8-1 win at #3 over Zach Kaplan and Del Schunk. Fujimaki and his partner,
Yifan Shen, followed with an 8-2 victory at #1 doubles over Union's brother duo of Austin and Max Egna.

The Dutchmen got their first point of the match at #2 doubles, when Ian Bank and David Bond won 8-6 over Rochester's
Jun Yuminaga and
Tanmay Thakkar.

In singles, Fujimaki earned his second win of the day at #1, making quick work of Schunk, posting a 6-2, 6-0 win. Â Union's Max Egna topped Shen at #3 6-1, 6-0, to pull the Dutchmen back within one point overall, but that is all the hosts would get on the night as Rochester ended with four straight victories.

Yuminaga and Thakkar bounced back after their doubles losses with straight set wins in singles. Yuminaga played at #2 and won 6-2, 6-3 over Austin Egna, while Thakkar held the #4 spot in the lineup and won by the same 6-2, 6-3 score.

At #5, first-year
Peter Huang won 6-2, 6-4 over Justin Gold and Somani finished up the match with a 6-4, 6-0 victory at #6 over Bank.

UR will next compete at the UAA Championships in Altamonte Springs, Floriday next weekend.
